### Math

All students should take the math placement exam unless they have earned or expect to earn college credit (such as AP, IB, PSEO, CIS, or CAP) equivalent to or higher than Short Calculus or Calculus I.

If a student places into Math 1031 College Algebra and Probability/Math 1051 Precalculus I, they should consider reviewing the materials and retesting. If a student places into Math 1031 College Algebra and Probability/Math 1051 Precalculus I again on their second attempt, they should take either Math 1031 or Math 1051.

If a student places into Math 1142 Short Calculus/Math 1151 Precalculus II, it is strongly recommended they take Math 1142 (which is on an equivalent level with Math 1151). Successful completion of Math 1142 is sufficient to meet major and general degree requirements.

If a student places into Math 1142 Short Calculus or Math 1271 Calculus I, they should take one of these courses (unless they have previous AP/IB/transfer credits).
