Math

Students typically take Math 1371 CSE Calculus I in their first semester in CSE.

If a student places into Math 1051 Precalculus I, they should consider reviewing the materials and retesting. If a student places into Math 1051 Precalculus I again on their second attempt, they should take this course.

If a student places into Math 1151 Precalculus II, they should consider reviewing the materials and retesting. If a student places into Math 1151 Precalculus II again on their second attempt, they should take Math 1151.

If a student places into Math 1371 CSE Calculus I, they should take this course. Please note: this exam will only place you as high as Calculus I. Students with anticipated incoming credit still need to take the exam, then should discuss their credit with their academic advisor. 

Chemistry

If a student places into Chem 1015 Introductory Chemistry and plans to pursue chemistry-based major, they should engage in the learning modules to master the knowledge required with the goal of placing into Chem 1061/1065. If a student does not master the chemistry content required for Chem 1061/1065, the student must remain registered for Chem 1015. Chem 1015 does not fulfill the Chemistry requirement for CSE majors.

If a student places into Chem 1061/1065 Chemical Principles I, they should take this course unless they have previous AP/IB/transfer credits and it is deemed appropriate in discussion with their academic advisor.
