This information applies to all CSOM majors:
Math
While the Carlson School does not require a specific math or calculus course, the curriculum is nevertheless very analytical and requires several statistics and data courses. Therefore, students must complete the math placement exam to help advisors determine their level of preparedness at the time of their enrollment. Students will also have the opportunity to discuss incoming credit for math with their advisor (AP, IB, transfer credit, or other incoming credit); students are required to take the placement exam regardless of incoming credit.
Chemistry
No chemistry placement is required for progress toward CSOM majors.
Language
The Carlson School does not require students to take a second language. However, students who co-major in International Business are required to take one year of college-level coursework in a second language. If you think this is a major you might pursue, it is recommended you take the placement test. Additionally, if you plan to take any second language classes in addition to your degree requirements, it is recommended you take the placement test.
